Malling™ Bella

Ripening period

A mid-season primocane variety, well-adopted to the climate of Poland and Northern Europe.

 

Fruit quality

Malling™ Bella has very attractive, mid-red, firm berries, with excellent flavour and post-harvest shelf life.

It has large fruits of the average weight of 7 g, which maintain good size throughout the season.

 

Development and plant habit

Malling™ Bella is a high-yield variety with vigorous upright growing canes and well-displayed fruit, which allows quick picking.

The variety is suitable for double cropping and high-quality long cane production in a nursery and in the field.

 

Resistance to diseases

No disease resistance tests have been carried out so far. However, no problems have been reported at experimental facilities or plant nurseries.

 

*Malling™ Bella is a protected and licenced variety from the East Malling Rubus Breeding Consortium (EMRBC), NIAB. Therefore, it’s not possible to propagate it, offer it or prepare it for sale or sell it without a licence from the variety owner NIAB.

Glen Ample

Ripening period

A mid-season floricane variety, well-adopted to the climate of Poland and Northern Europe.

 

Yield

Trials at the James Hutton Institute in Scotland show 7-10 t/ha. The harvest spreads over time.

 

Fruit quality

Large berries (4-6g), light red colour, sweet, aromatic.

They should be harvested when pink to obtain colour and firmness suitable for storage.

Berries are well-displayed on the plant, so they can be picked quickly and easily.

 

Development and plant habit

Produces high and upright, spinefree, long-canes at a nursery and in the field

 

Resistance to diseases

High resistance of the plants and fruits to pests and diseases, especially to raspberry aphids (Amphorophora idaei).

This variety is susceptible to raspberry root rot (Phytophthora spp.).

 

*Glen Ample was created at the James Hutton Institute in Scotland and is a variety protected by a Community plant variety right. It is therefore impossible to propagate it, offer it or prepare it for sale or sell it without a licence from the variety owner James Hutton Limited.

Sweet Royala

Variety characteristics Sweet Royalla (compared to Loch Ness)

Sweet Royala is a mid-early variety.


Productivity

High yielding (up to 15% more than Loch Ness)


Plant growth and habit

Better root development than Loch Ness. Less sensitive to powdery mildew and phytophthore.


Fruit quality

The fruit is firmer, juicier, sweeter and less acidic than Loch Ness.


Fruit size:

Big.

Loch Ness

Ripening period

Loch Ness is an early-mid season variety with an excellent yield potential.

 

Development and plant habit

Semi-erect habit, thornless, high-yielding.

 

Fruit quality

Pleasant flavour, firm pulp when ripe, conical shape, intense dark colour.

They have a good flavour reminiscent of wild blackberry.

Size – medium-large.

Eros®

Eros®

Mid - early variety that stands out for its intense red brilliant color and for its excellent firmness. High yield in the primocane fruiting. Suitable for fresh market.

Mid - early, +15 days Polka

 

Fruit quality

Bright intense red color, conical shape and firm fruits

 

Development and plant habit

Strong laterals with fruits in plain sight. High picking speed (medium of 7-8kg/hour in primocane crop and can be picked every 48 hours). Suitable for fresh market.

Optima®

Optima®

Late primocane with high potential in floricane fruiting. Suitable for long canes production and for organic cultivation. Suitable for organic production.

 

Ripening period

4 days earlier than Tulameen in summer fruiting.

 

Fruit quality

Tulameen-like shape and flavor.

 

Development and plant habit

Vigorous and upright plant. Strong and resistant lateral trusses. Strong root system. Easy to grow long canes.

 

Resistance to diseases

High tolerance to raspberry rust and mite.

Primalba®

Primalba®

Very early variety with a good yield potential, producing up to 1.8 kg/plant for primocane crop.

 

Ripening period

Primalba starts 4-5 days before Polka.

 

Fruit quality

Excellent quality, large, averaging 6g/berry, bright red, conical shaped fruit, with outstanding flavour.

 

Development and plant habit

Moderately vigorous canes, with compact, upright habit. Fruit is easy to pick, even when not completely ripe.

A medium-late primocane variety suitable for long cane production in the field and double cropping.

It produces thin and long canes with little thorns and medium-size side shoots.

High yielding, mainly during the first, late summer harvest (15 days after Enrosadira).

Suitable for production in climates with medium high number of chilling hours.

Berries are large, conical, pink-red, tasty, aromatic and of exceptional shelf life.

Halley

HALLEY – variety from G-Berries

A new, early primocane variety, which ripens 5 days after Enrosadira.

Suitable for double harvesting and intense production systems in the Southern and Northern parts of Europe.

Thornless and produces thick, medium-size side shoots. High yielding. Well displayed fruit enables fast picking. Berries are medium-large, conical, firm, pink-red, tasty and aromatic.

Dorotea

DOROTEA – variety from G-Berries

A late primocane variety suitable for long cane production in the field.

It produces thin and long sprouts with little thorns and medium-size side shoots. It regularly gives high yields, mainly during the first, late summer harvest (10 days after Enrosadira).

The fruits are large, firm, with a moderately conical shape, very tasty and of exceptional shelf life.
